Fredrick Allen Bergan

Fredrick Allen Bergan, 79, of Austin, Arkansas, formerly of Beebe, passed away on December 30, 2022.  Fred was born on December 2, 1943, to Elvin and Francis Bergan in Glendale, California.

Fred is a Veteran of the Vietnam War.  He served honorably in the United States Army, Co A, 4 BN, 23rd IN, 25th Infantry Division and also served in the Arkansas Army National Guard, 39th Infantry Brigade.  He retired at the rank Sergeant First Class with a total of twenty years’ service.

In 1968, Fred married Lois Peters and went on to have two children, Lisa Kim (John) Robinson and Jeffery Allen (Wendy) Bergan.  He has five grandchildren, Andrew Catlett, Autumn Robinson, Zachery (Anna) Bergan, Nicole Bergan, Kaitlyn Bergan, and four great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and a countless number of friends.

Fred retired from Remington Arms in addition to being an auxiliary officer for the Beebe Police Department as well as being an EMT.  After retiring, he spent his time enjoying life with his wife, family, friends, and singing karaoke.  He is a loyal member of the VFW, Moose Lodge, and a long-time member of the Beebe Masonic Lodge.

Fred was predeceased by his father Elvin and mother Francis. He is survived by his brother Russ (Ruth) Bergan of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and his sister, Gail Gravatt of Lakeland, Florida.

Visitation will be at Smith Westbrook Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Services will be held at Smith Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, January 11th at 9:00 a.m. with the final resting place at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. 

Following the services, please join our family for refreshments and sharing stories about Fred at the VFW Post 4548, 6704 Old Hwy 67, Cabot, Arkansas.
