Freddie Lindy, age 82, of Glenwood, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 19, 2023, with his loving family by his side.
He was born on July 23, 1941, in Mount Olympus, Indiana, the son of Paul D. Lindy and Elsie Hill Lindy. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Crippin; his parents; one brother, Burkee Lindy; and one sister, Mary Weaver.
On March 9, 1990, he was married to Barbara Ann Liner, and together they enjoyed making many loving memories for over thirty-three years. Freddie was a Christian in his faith and was always a hard and dedicated worker. He retired as a surveyor from the State of Louisiana, and went on to start his own business, FBL & Associates, which became a very successful business. Throughout all of Freddie's extensive careers, he never chose to take the credit for his great success, but instead he always attributed it to those who worked for him. He felt that without their hard work and dedication, he would have never had the privilege of reaching the level of success that he accomplished.
Freddie took great joy in going fishing, especially the times when he went with his daughter, Holly. He also owned and operated his ranch, Red Hawk Cattle Company in Glenwood, and loved working with his cows. Above all, Freddie was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who dearly loved and cherished his family. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Lindy of Glenwood; four daughters and their spouses, Holly and Gary Alexander of Bonnerdale, Shea Rinehart of Choudrant, Louisiana, Erica and Stephen D'Addario of Nashville, Tennessee and Kerry Cates of Ruston, Louisiana; six grandchildren, Nikki Rankin, Cash Murray, Zoie Holstead, Mac D'Addario, Dom D'Addario and Rowan Cates; his sister, Margie Butler of Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends.
The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to his nurse, Natasha with A Place At Home; the nurses and staff of Amedisys Home Health; the nurses and staff of Gentiva Hospice; and his right hand man at the farm and special friend, Robert Shaw.
Memorial services to celebrate the life of Freddie, will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, December 2, 2023, in the Airline Church of Christ, 2125 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, Glenwood, 209 North Third Street, Glenwood, AR 71943.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the local Glenwood Church of Christ, who many of its members sat with Freddie and provided love and comfort.
