Fred Edward Hester, 88, of Sherwood, Arkansas passed away May 22, 2021. He was born October 2, 1932 in Camden, Arkansas to the late Fred and Bertha (Lynn) Hester. Fred is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Minnie Smith Hester; and two sisters, Patricia Lynn Cross and Carolyn Ann Efird.
Fred is survived by three nephews, Retired CSM, Richard A Efird of Custer, South Dakota, Jesse Efird of Saluda, South Carolina, and David Efird of Little Mountain, South Carolina; and three nieces, Eva Efird of Garner, North Carolina, Patricia Cross Daniel of Evans, Georgia, and Debra K. Cross Wheelington of Magnolia, Arkansas who all adore him and have many special memories they will treasure of Uncle Fred. He and his dog Guy were inseparable.
Fred cherished his family and friends but most of all he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a man that was content no matter what the circumstance and was grateful for each of his blessings. He belonged to Gideon’s International and was an active member of Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church until his health failed.
Fred enjoyed meeting people and was a born salesman. His favorite thing to sell was Kirby Vacuums. With his infectious smile he would knock on a door and ask whomever, “May I put the hurt on your dirt today, ma’am?” Fred will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral service will be at 2:00PM Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Smith-Sherwood Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at 3:30PM at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
