Franklin Douglas Gallahar

Franklin Douglas “Doug” Gallahar, 84, of Vilonia, passed away into God’s loving arms on June 16, 2023. He was born in Talladega, Alabama on September 14, 1938. He was the son of John and Arvertie Bradford Gallahar.

He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and was one of the founding members of Vilonia Church of Christ. He was part of the chain gang and press box crew for the Vilonia Eagles for many years. He was a superintendent at Baldwin-Shell Construction for 33 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Sue Sims Gallahar; a son, Terry; his parents; his brothers, Colvin (Edna), Hubert (Dean), J.W. (Helen) Gallahar; his sister, Mary (Runt) Haney; brother-in-laws, Jerry Stone and Dale Sims; sister-in-law, Fay Langster.

Survivors include his son, Chip (Stacey) Gallahar of Conway; his daughters, Christy (Gary) Cupp of Paragould and Kim (Andy) Wilson of Vilonia; grandchildren, Weston Gallahar, Aubrey (Slader) Marshall, Chandler (Abby) Cupp, Kent (Kloey) Madden, Kaleb (Alex) Madden, Kristen Madden, Coby, Cameron and Chelby Wilson; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother, Royce (Barbara); sisters, Elaine (Gary) Griffith and Janice Stone; brother-in-law, Jack (Wendy) Sims; and a host of family and friends; Alabama family and church family.

He enjoyed all types of sports involving Arkansas Razorbacks, Auburn Tigers and Vilonia Eagles. He loved reading, he read his Bible cover to cover 4 times a year. He enjoyed spending time with his family and church family. His proudest accomplishments were being a father and grandfather to not only his children but to many in the community.

Marty Knight will be officiating the graveside service at Vilonia Cemetery on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. His son-in-laws and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. www.griffinleggettconway.com.
