Frank William McCauley, 84, of North Little Rock, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. Frank was born on December 29, 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee to Ellen and John McCauley. He attended Little Rock Technical High School, dubbed “Tech High,” and graduated in 1955. Four years later, he married his wife, Carolyn Nabholz McCauley. They were married for 62 years.
Frank served in the U.S. Navy before working as an engineer and mechanic for Rock Island Railroad. Later, he created Welch Ice Machine and Coco-Loco Frozen Drinks and continued to service his clients until his death. From weddings to graduation parties to family unions, his businesses brought friends and family together for important moments.
Frank had a sense of adventure beyond compare, going on whitewater rafting trips well into his 70s—often with a margarita in hand. This feat, along with his margarita business, gave him the nicknames “Margarita Frank” and “Mr. Coco Loco.” His friends also called him a “force of nature” who never met a stranger, filled with seemingly-endless energy to share with others. Every conversation was a lively one. Helping others was an important part of Frank’s life, and he could often be found making someone laugh.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bill (Sonja) McCauley, and granddaughter, Clara Ellen Jacques. He is survived by his siblings, Alberta Pearson, Linda Alexander, Mae (Frank) Menefee, and Richard (Cathleen) McCauley; his children, Catherine (Thomas) Jacques, Marjorie (Dan) Dudek, David (Lori) McCauley, Barbara (Brent) Sawrie, Andrew (Melissa) McCauley, James Richard “J.R.” McCauley, and Darryl (Sheila) McCauley; many nephews and nieces, including Mike (Kay) McCauley; his grandchildren, Blake, Alexis, Ayden, Harrison, Zach, Kate, Zealand, and Sarah Kate; and special friend of the family, Mark Hill, known as the 8th McCauley kid. Frank considered many other friends to be family, and we keep them in our thoughts.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Donations can be made online to Arkansas Children's Hospital or mailed to PO Box 2222; Little Rock, AR 72203.
To honor Frank, an Irish wake will be held Sunday, September 4th at 3:00 PM at 1512 Skyline Drive; North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116.
Visitation will be held from 10:00AM-11:30AM Tuesday September 6, 2022 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home (1921 Main Street) with a funeral service beginning at 11:30AM. Burial will immediately follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
