Frank Ju-Fa Leou of Little Rock, Arkansas, was born May 25, 1936, in Houlong, Taiwan. He attended the National Defense Medical Center, a medical school in Taiwan, and became a physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He immigrated to the United States in early 1970's to further his training. He eventually specialized in Gynecologic Oncology after finishing a medical fellowship in Albany, New York. He moved his family to Little Rock, Arkansas, in mid 1970's to began his medical practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock where he served until his retirement in early 2000's.
Frank was known for his friendly smile, open heart, and exceptional work ethic. He was well liked by his fellow coworkers. He was a good surgeon and took pride in his work. He often referred to himself as the âChinese Tailorâ.
Family always came first for Frank. He and his family became United States citizens through the naturalization process after moving to Little Rock. He wanted better opportunities for his three children and decided to stay in America instead of returning to Taiwan after his training. He was proud when his children later became dentist and physicians. He was very fortunate to have an extremely supportive wife, Joann, who worked along side him until he retired.
