Frances Dunn

Frances Cecelia Kaplon Dunn, 98, walked into God's loving arms on Sunday, June 22, 2014. She was born on February 6, 1916 in Argenta (North Little Rock), AR as the sixth of eight children to Polish Catholic immigrants Anna Kitta and Joseph Andrew Kaplon. They were among the original families to settle in Marche. Her own mother died when she was 14 and she raised her 2 little brothers. She married James Arthur (Jimmie) Dunn who was originally from Kitchener, Ontario on October 6, 1936. She was predeceased by him in 1954 and has been a widow since she was 38 years old.

She is survived by their only child, Mary Ann Dunn Horn and her husband Mike. Her great pride was her grandchildren, Leigh Ann Horn McCasland(Marty) and Nathan Michael Horn(Lori). Her even greater joys were her 5 great-grandchildren, Anna Katherine McCasland, Natalie Grace Horn, Allison Jeanette (Ally) McCasland, Gage Michael Horn, and Blake Aaron Horn. She is also survived by her "other children", daughter and son of her sister Rose who died at a very young age, whom she helped raise. They are Elizabeth (Betsy) Weber Roush and her husband Don and their sons and George Lee Weber and his wife Anita as well as a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She has one surviving sister-in-law who married her youngest brother, Betty Kaplon of Houston,TX.

We will dearly miss this strong, kind, giving, loving Mama, Nanny, "Tata", Aunt Frances who baked the best sugar cookies and made the best fried pies on earth. She taught us the way to live and treat others and we are better for it. Her small presence on this earth was and will continue to be far-reaching. Do zobaczenia, Franya!

There will be a private family burial at the National Cemetery. Our family is so grateful for the loving care and vigilance, especially over the last week, of the nurses and staff of Valley Ranch Nursing and Rehabilitation.
