Frances Novak Bower passed away on October 14, 2019. She was born on December 1, 1925 in Hazen Arkansas. Mrs. Bower dedicated her life to the field of healthcare. She was a registered nurse and held a Master's Degree in Public Health Administration from Johns Hopkins University. She worked in several different areas of health care including administration, teaching, and public health. In her career she worked many places, including teaching at Seton Hall University and working abroad for several years in Great Britain and France with the United States Army. Mrs. Bower was particularly fond of public health and her time working with the Department of Public Health in the District of Columbia was especially rewarding to her. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the National Honor Society of Nursing.
Frances had a great love of travel and had the opportunity to visit many different countries during her lifetime. Mrs. Bower was preceded in death by her husband, Colonial Don Bower, her mother and father, Mildred and Louis Novak, and her sisters, Dorothy Bogaard and Ruby Sanders. She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Hestir of Beebe, her sister, Carolyn Brakensiek of Hazen, and her brother, Elvin Novak of De Valls Bluff. She is also survived by countless nieces and nephews with whom she enjoyed sharing her love of Broadway musicals, operas, museums, and other educational experiences when she brought them up for a visit while she lived in her longtime home in Summit, New Jersey.
A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Bower at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Court (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock on Saturday, October 26 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church.
