Foster W. McConnell, Jr., 71, of Maumelle went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 12, 2010. He was born to the late Foster W. and Cyril McConnell in NLR on August 2, 1938. He was a devoted Christian that was a member of the Southern Baptist denomination. He retired from the Corps of Engineers after 50 years of dedicated service.
Foster can be remembered for his creative jokes, also known as "Foster-ism's," his love for the Razorbacks, for bowling, and his love for singing and playing music. Foster never met a stranger and had a genuine heart for others. He was a devoted father and faithful husband. He graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1956.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Shirley McConnell, of Maumelle; three sons, Robert, Steven and wife, Kristen, and Patrick and wife, Brooke, all of Little Rock; and daughter, Rachel Mercer and husband, Clint, of Maumelle; five grandchildren; three brothers, Mickey McConnell, of Mabelvale, Richard McConnell, of North Little Rock, Ron McConnell, of Bigelow; and sister, Marsha Pruett, of Benton.
Funeral services will be held ¬¬¬at 11:30 am, Friday, May 14, 2010 at Fellowship Bible Church in West Little Rock, 1401 Kirk Rd. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
