Forrest Wisdom

Forrest B. Wisdom, 88, of Beebe, passed away on June 27, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, William T. and Linnie Wisdom; son, Alan; grandson, Patrick Fowler; sister, Shirley Phillips; and three brothers, Harold, Durwood, and Shirrell. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty plus years, Evelyn Madeline Wisdom; two daughters, Pam Fowler of Benton and Amy Wisdom of Little Rock; one brother, Dean Wisdom; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A veteran of World War II, he served in Alaska with the 153rd Infantry Division. Later he served with the 104th "Timberwolf" Infantry Division as a radio operator in the Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. He was once mistakenly asked to pass on the word that he and his commanding officer were killed in action.

After the war he received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Arkansas. He went on to work for Central Arkansas Milk Producers and later AMPI as Arkansas Division Manager when it was formed. With two partners he built and operated Skilcare Nursing Home in Jonesboro where he served as administrator until his retirement in 1983.

Mr. Wisdom was an avid hunter and fisherman. He and Evelyn traveled extensively abroad and in the U.S., but a bout of stomach cancer in 1995 slowed him down considerably. He was a doting father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A kind and generous spirit, he was a devoted member of Beebe First United Methodist Church and a lifelong Democrat.
