Forrest Dale Owen, 73, of North Little Rock, died Monday, June 23, at Baptist Medical Center. Forrest was born in Humnoke, Arkansas, on September 7, 1934 to Herschel and Lucille Coburn Owen. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Gathalou Arrington.
Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Wilma Robertson Owen, sons Gary (Sharon) and Steven, grandchildren Chris, Matthew, Erinn (Reggie), Stephen, Andrew, David, and Nathan as well great-granddaughter Sydney. Other survivors include his mother-in-law, Lorene Robertson, and an extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces.

Forrest, a proud 26-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps served in all of the enlisted ranks and as a Warrant Officer, before retiring as a Captain. His service included a tour of duty in Vietnam. Upon military retirement Forrest served as Executive Director of the Arkansas State Burial Board and he was employed with the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services for a total of 28 years in the service of the State of Arkansas.
Forrest's mischievous sense of humor guaranteed an element of the unexpected at family gatherings. He was happiest at these events and cherished his family. He also loved his church family at Oak Grove Church of Christ where he was a long-time, active member.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Morrilton Children's Home or the Paragould Children's Home.
A celebration of Forrest's life will be held at North Little Rock Funeral Home on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St. 758-1170. Burial will be at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
