Floy Kathryn McKell, age 86 of Little Rock, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born on May 9, 1927 in Tuckerman, Arkansas; she was the daughter of Ray C. Smith and Violet E. Rich.
Floy was a Homemaker. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an avid Genealogist, reader, and letter writer. She knitted hundreds of hats for ACH and crocheted hundreds of baby blankets even for her future great grandchildren to come. She was also a confidant to numerous people and lifted their spirits and their love of the Lord. She was the epitome of the song "Because I have Been Given Much, I too Must Give". She gave to others all her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Violet Smith; sisters, Mary Violet Smith and Hazel Smith Warren: her son Scott Edward McKell; and her beloved husband of 52 years, Vernon Keith McKell.
Survivors include her son, Carl J. McKell of Little Rock: her daughter, Mary K. McKell of Little Rock; brothers Richard (Faye) Smith and Sam (Leola) Smith, all of Tuckerman, Arkansas; grandchildren, Alison (Jason) Jones of Little Rock, Justin (Ashley) McKell of Benton, William T. Smith and Ethan S. Smith, both of Alexander, Arkansas; great grandchildren, Elias, Spencer, and Attie Rue; several nieces, nephews, and numerous loving family and friends. She embraced many as her own family.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, on Friday, January 24, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at Otter Creek in Little Rock.
Burial will follow at 2:30pm at Gracelawn Cemetery in Tuckerman, Arkansas.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Huson Funeral Home in Little Rock, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas.
