Florene Walker, age 80, of Caddo Gap, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.
She was born on April 19, 1940, the daughter of Lonnie James Miller and Dora Arizona Beasley Miller. On April 10, 1965, she was married to V. L. Walker who preceded her in death on January 6, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Tammy Lee Walker; her parents; and four brothers, Hulen Miller, Olen Miller, Glen Miller and Orville Miller.
Born a quarter mile from where she lived, and except for the time she spent moving around with her Air Force husband, she spent her entire life in the mountains of southwest Montgomery County. During the Air Force days, they lived in San Antonio, Texas, Wichita Falls, Texas, Panama and Ogden, Utah. She loved spending time at home and was a dedicated wife and mother. She enjoyed playing horseshoes and dominoes. She was a member of the Faith Valley Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and David McSchooler of Caddo Gap; two sisters, Imogene Dowdy of Texarkana and Connie Dowdy and her husband, James, of Glenwood; two sisters-in-law, Wynell Miller of Umpire and Jane Miller of Glenwood; and her nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 9, 2021, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Bobby Lock officiating.
Interment will be in the Fancy Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Alex Brown, Daniel Cornwall, Ronny Sharp, Jeff Jackson, David McSchooler and Brian Hughes.
