Exie June Lee

Exie June Lee was born in Lavaca Arkansas on June 1, 1942 and passed away December 27, 2019 in North Little Rock Arkansas. She was one child of nine born to Exie Tennessee Snow and Byron Nelson.

She is survived by her sister, Ettie Noblitt; her brother, Paul Nelson; her sister, Avis Orend; her children, Wes and Sandra Lee, Wayne and Debbie Lee, Tina and Gary Olsen; grandchildren, Cody Lee, Kyle and Erica Lee, Justin Randall, Hunter Olsen, Trent Lee, and Savannah Lee; and her great grandchild, Jaxon Randall. She is preceded in death by Exie Nelson, Byron Nelson, Ann Ashlin, Byron Nelson, Clark Nelson, Billy Nelson, and Mary Nelson.

She graduated from Beebe High School in 1960 and graduated from Camden Nursing School in 1968. She was a Boy Scout Troop Leader, Band Nurse for Sylvan Hills High School, and an EMT for Sherwood Volunteer Fire Department. She was a host mother for six children from Argentina and Uruguay. One exchange student brother said of our mother, “I have good and fresh memories about the time spent together in Sherwood with June. Thanks to her, I have experienced a different and new home than my home, and learned from her many things in a new environment for me. I keep in my mind and heart her kindness, sense of humor and constantly expressing love. We are going to miss you Mom.”

As a child she loved to sing hymns with her sisters. One of her favorite songs was Conway Twitty when he addressed to her in that baritone voice “Hello Darling.” She was never a good cook; she could burn water. As a kid, her job was the laundry. Later she married the son of a cook. Her job for every get together… bring the condiments. She was fond of driving 35 in a 55, always in the left-hand lane and loved the phrase “I pay my taxes I can drive on any side I want.” Her two favorite achievements were graduating nursing school and winning $1,300 while playing bingo in 1984. She was never afraid to share what was on her mind but she always did it out of love, not spite.
