Everett Arthur Clevidence, of Little Rock, a man of love and a man of integrity, died at age 92 on January 24, 2009. A child of the Great Depression and member of the Greatest Generation, he loved his God, family, and country and lived his values. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 71 years, Esther Spencer Clevidence, devoted daughters Dr. Beverly Clevidence (Herb Weiss) of Reisterstown, MD and Cindy Crone (Charles) of Little Rock, and grandson, Andrew Crone, also of Little Rock. He was pre-deceased by parents George T. and Blanche Lanning Clevidence, sister, Letha Bray, and brothers, Vincent and Grant Clevidence.
Born on the Crimean Plantation in St. Joseph, Louisiana on November 27, 1916, Everett moved to Benton as a young child and later to Little Rock where he lived the remainder of his life. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict and served on the Battleship Iowa. After a career in real estate (Block Realty and Everett Clevidence Realty, he retired as purchasing director for Kellwood Company. He loved music--Dixieland Jazz, Big Band and Ragtime--and spending time with his family. He was a loyal and active member of Mabelvale United Methodist Church and the Chapel Sunday School Class.
The family expresses sincere appreciation to Dr. Victoria Akins of the UAMS Department of Geriatrics, Dr. Kim Curseen of UAMS House Call Program, and the staff of Hospice Home Care of Little Rock for their compassionate care. Gratitude is also expressed to caring friends and family members, especially son-in-law Charles Crone.
Everett always reached out to help those less fortunate than he and his family. Memorial donations in his honor may be made to Mabelvale United Methodist Church, Salvation Army, or a favorite food charity.
