Evelyn Walker, age 72, of Kirby, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. She was born on October 28, 1946, in Nashville, Arkansas, the daughter of James Russell Eller and Mamie Mitchell Eller. On December 25, 1964, she was married to Danny Walker. She was preceded in death by her parents. She was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for several years, often played the piano and organ, and truly loved her church family. For over twenty-eight years she taught first grade before she retired, and after she retired from teaching, she worked for ten more years as a Student Intern Supervisor for Henderson State University. Evelyn was known for her excellent cooking, she enjoyed bird watching and going on vacation with her family and friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend, whose greatest joy in life was taking care of and spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving husband, Danny Walker of Kirby; her children and their spouses, Todd Walker of Branson, Missouri, Tonja and Todd Lewis of Arkadelphia and Anthony and Julie Walker of Greenbrier; her grandchildren, Derek Walker, Trevor Walker and his wife, Emily, Eric Lewis, Carissa Walker, Paige Lewis, Daeton Walker and a grandson on the way; one brother-in-law; three sisters-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 14, 2019, in the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Kirby with Bro. Jack Herring officiating. Interment will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Mike Johnson, Todd Lewis, Lynn Tolleson, Greg Smith, Wes Johns and Mike Funderburk. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
