Evelyn L. Oliver, 89, died December 2, 2011, at a skilled nursing facility in Chesterfield, Missouri.
Mrs. Oliver was born to the late William R. and Floy Smead, December 15, 1921, in Tinsman, Arkansas and graduated from Tinsman High School. On October 20, 1941, she married the late O. Kenneth Oliver who died in the Pacific during WWII when she was pregnant with their first and only child.
Evelyn never remarried and devoted her time to her family, raising her son and looking after her parents. She was a long time member of Tyler Street Baptist Church in Little Rock until her move to St. Louis in 2003 to be closer to her son and family. She was known for her love of gardening in her backyard, cooking, and sewing.
Mrs. Oliver was preceded in death by her husband, O. Kenneth Oliver; her son, Ken; and her brother, Raymond Smead.
She is survived by her two grandchildren, Elizabeth (Bill) Myers of Madison, Alabama and Stephen Oliver of Austin, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Jane Whelchel Oliver of Chesterfield, Missouri; her sister-in-law, Mary Hughes Smead of Little Rock; and five great- grandchildren.
A Funeral Service in memory of Evelyn will be held on Monday, December 5, at 1:00 p.m., at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Court (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Interment will follow in the family plot at Roselawn Memorial Park.
