Evelyn Laycook

Evelyn Ruby Laycook went to her eternal home on Friday, July23, 2021 at the age of 88.  Evelyn was born in on September 2, 1932 to the late Herbert and Violet Rounds.

At the age of 18, following an ice storm, she took a train to Georgia where she married her husband, Harlon.  He was stationed at Ft. Benning. Evelyn had a passion for her pretty yard and knew every flower.  She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making several of her own family recipes.

Evelyn is survived by her children:  Ronald, Robert (Jane) and Regina Laycook; sister-in-law, Gladys (Tommy) Carter; grandchildren:  Michael Laycook, Jr., Michelle (Eric) Beck, Christina (Andy) Pierce, Alicia (Willie) Eustice; great-grandchildren:  Victoria, Katie, Morgan, Emma, and Luke; many family members and friends. She gave everyone a loving nickname; “Little Purdy”, “Sugar” or “Little Doll”.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Harlon Laycook; son, Michael Laycook, Sr., and siblings: Harold Rounds and Betty Crenshaw.

Visitation will be private.  Graveside service will begin at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Round Mountain Cemetery, Faulkner County.
