Evelyn Jean Allen Dugger ?Granny?, 78, of North Little Rock went home to the Lord on Sunday, September 30, 2007. She was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late John M. and Maggie Elizabeth White Allen. Her formative years were spent performing household duties and being instilled with her role as a homemaker. Shortly after graduating North Little Rock High School in 1947, she had a blind date with a handsome soldier from Newark, Arkansas and married Alvin Dugger on October 26, 1948. They celebrated their 57th anniversary before his death on March 9, 2006. They proudly had four sons.
Granny was best remembered for spreading her love through cooking. She made breakfast, lunch and dinner for her husband, boys, and whomever showed up at mealtime. She canned the vegetables produced from the family gardens, and her family cherished the Sunday dinners. Desserts were her specialty, and all looked forward to receiving their birthday cake made from scratch by Granny?s loving hands.
Without compromising her household responsibilities, Granny worked for 10 years at the Oak Grove Pharmacy where she was prominently known among the community. She and her husband were founding members of Oak Grove Church of Christ, where they were honored with a Proclamation of Love.
Though humble and quiet, Granny was solid in her faith. She faithfully cared for all of her family, which included her in-laws and parents for years as they aged. She sacrificed her health and ultimately her life for the welfare of her family.
She is survived by her sons, John and wife, Linda, of Conway, Gary and Tim of North Little Rock and Mark and wife, Terri of Maumelle; seven grandchildren, Kristin and husband, Van Melton, Ron; Jon and wife, Lindsay; Kevin, Ashley, Dylan and Hannah; five great-grandchildren, Garet, Savana, Bianca, Jibran and Abbi; sister-in-law, Eloise Allen and many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Dugger, parents, and brother, J.D. Allen.
