Eugenia Bragg Raybon, age 93, of Arkadelphia passed away on October 2, 2013 in Arkadelphia. She was born December 10, 1919 in Sumter County Alabama, the daughter of the late W. T. and Ollie McDonald Bragg.
She attended Livingston College in Alabama and graduated from Ouachita Baptist College with a B. A. in 1961. She received her Masters of Library Science from the University of Oklahoma in 1966.
Mrs. Raybon was active in the Arkansas Library Association during her tenure as a librarian and teacher at Ouachita Baptist University. In 1994, she was awarded the Frances P. Neal Award from the Arkansas Library Association to recognize her career of notable service in librarianship. She was instrumental in developing the joint union catalog for the libraries at Ouachita Baptist University and Henderson State University, which was ultimately converted to an online catalog. She retired from Ouachita Baptist University in 1986.
Mrs. Raybon had a thirst for knowledge and reading. She was interested in aviation and took flying lessons during the late 1970s. She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Arkadelphia and a current member of Arkadelphia First Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married on April 2, 1944, Phares H. Raybon; an infant daughter, Frances Marian Raybon; a daughter-in-law, Carol Raybon; three brothers and one sister.
Survivors are one son, Michael P. Raybon of Fayetteville, AR; one daughter, Elaine White and husband, Michael of Mahomet, Illinois; three grandsons, Blake Raybon and wife, Fran of Fayetteville, Thomas White and Charles White both of Mahomet, Illinois; and one great-grandson, Gavin Raybon .
Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Friday, October 4th at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with Rev. Kendell Land officiating.
