Eugene Thomey

Eugene Anthony Thomey went to be with his heavenly Father on September 20, 2021. He passed peacefully with family and friends. Eugene was born on October 17, 1925 in North Little Rock to the late Dolphus Thomey and Teresa (Yanker) Thomey.

Eugene was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He loved being outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He enjoyed playing dominoes- especially the 42 game. Eugene worked for Standard Life Insurance for several years. Eugene liked building things during his spare time.  He was an expert at nothing but a master of everything and bigger than life. Eugene loved his family deeply and enjoyed spending time with them.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents: Dolphus Thomey and Teresa (Yanker) Thomey, brother, and sister.

Eugene leaves his loving wife of 44 years, Joyce Thomey; daughters, Judy Thomey Cass and Mary Elizabeth Pruss; sons, Ronnie Wright (Vicki) and David Wright (Debbie); nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of family members and friends that will miss him always.

Visitation will be held from 10:00- 10:45 AM on Thursday, September 23 at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St. Benton, AR, 72015, followed by a memorial service at 10:45. Burial to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
