Rev. Eugene Anderson Ryan, 85, of North Little Rock, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014. He was born November 24, 1928 to Rev. Henry W. and Ruby L. Ryan and grew up in North Little Rock. He was a graduate of Ouachita Baptist College now University, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was in the ministry 40 years pastoring churches in Lexa, Lonoke, Charleston and various other locations in central Arkansas. Gene was a master woodworker and member of the Arkansas Craft Guild. He loved to hunt and fish as well. Gene was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be truly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Dewbre-Ryan; daughters, Pat DuVall (Ric) of Little Rock and Debbie Binns of Fayetteville; four granddaughters, Jennifer Hubanks (David), Jenjer Claus, Jaime Harris (Marc) and Sara Hau (Ben); nine great-grandchildren; sister, Dollie Ryan Roth Sims. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Rueben Ryan, and his first wife and the mother of his children, Elizabeth Chaney Ryan.
Memorials may be made to Park Hill Baptist Church Mission Fund, 201 E 'C' Street, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Park Hill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at North Little Rock Funeral Home. Online obituary and guest registry at www.SmithFamilyCares.com .
