Eugene Joseph Putz

Eugene Joseph Putz, age 79, of Kirby, went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.

He was born on April 11, 1943, in Osceola, Iowa, the son of Vernon and Bernice Parrish Putz.  On April 19, 1964, he married the true love of his life, Angela Marie Harrell.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Kermit Davis; and his sister, Cleta Murtle.

Eugene loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a born-again Christian.  He did draft work and electrical engineering for many years and later became a schoolteacher and taught up until he retired.  He taught at many schools, including Caddo Hills, AR, Campbell, TX, Avery, TX, Mineral Springs, AR and Kirby, AR, where he would finally retire from.

Eugene had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed teasing the waitresses when he and Angela would go out to eat!  He also enjoyed tinkering with his John Deere Tractors and Corvettes, collecting and repairing guns, and looking at train books.  But Eugene’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, who he loved with all his heart.  He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Angela Putz of Kirby; his daughter, Tammy Morton and friend, Tracy Irvin of Kirby; his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Penny Putz of Lodi; his grandchildren and their spouses, Charles and Sarah Morton, Jessica Morton, Bret and Cindy Reid, Chance and Jamie Reid, Jacynda and Tommy Davis, Deric Putz and his fiancée, Allison Price and Cale Feng; his great-grandchildren, Susanna, Jedidiah and Clifford Morton, Everett Davis, Ty, Braylee and Gannon Reid and Tanner Davis, Hayden, Bentley and Brooklyn Reid; his brother-in-law, Terry and Carla Harrell of Winterset, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 20, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Dale Hamilton, Bro. Kyle Cowart and Charles Morton officiating.

Visitation will be held Monday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Lodi Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Charles Morton, Deric Putz, Bret Reid, Chance Reid, Tommy Davis, Tim Cogburn, Marty Reynolds and Randy Bradford.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Kirby School Faculty, the doctors, nurses and staff of the Glenwood Family Medicine Clinic and the doctors, nurses and staff of National Park Hospital ER and ICU.
