Eugene Matthews age 69 of Brown Springs died Sunday, July 4, 2010. He was born June 11, 1941 in Hot Spring County the son of William Lonnie and Myrtie Vesta Gray Matthews. He was a retired millwright and a member of the Anchor Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Pevetoe Matthews.
Survivors include two sons, William "Lee" Matthews and his wife Jan, of Brown Springs, Mark Matthews and his wife Donna of Brown Springs, two brothers, Billy Joe Matthews of Texarkana, TX and Melvin Matthews of Caney, three sisters, Marcille Ward and Doris Word both of Camden, and Helen Wheaton of Brown Springs, three grandchildren, Amie Hood and husband John, Jill Hurst and husband Cory and B. J. Matthews, two great grandchildren, Ty and Gage Hood.
Funeral services will be 10 AM Wednesday in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel with Brother Paul Bass and Brother Hollis McDermott officiating. Burial will be in the Jones Cemetery near Brown Springs. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Anchor Baptist Church.
