Ethel Thrash Davis, age 93, of Glenwood, died Friday, January 28, 2011. She was born on July 20, 1917 at Nashville, the daughter of Zach Norris and Stella Mae Dean Norris. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ed Thrash, and her second husband, Lloyd Davis. She and her husband, Ed, operated Thrash Hardware for many years in downtown Glenwood. After selling the hardware portion of the store, she concentrated on dry goods and household items and operated Thrash Department Store in the same location. She was a member of the Glenwood First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Reba Thrash of Glenwood and Bobby and Thelma "Perky" Thrash of Haltom City, Texas; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Jack Norris of Arlington, Texas. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Phillip Miller officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, 1:00 PM until service time. Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Joe Floyd Wright, Larry Mitchell, Jim Watson, Durwood Mayo, Sonny Prince and Bill West. Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses, staff and employees of the Montgomery County Nursing Home. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
