Ethel Hope Kirk Carter, 88, of Searcy, Arkansas, passed away November 7, 2012. Born in Beebe, Arkansas on June 11, 1924, to Mona Faye Turner and Earl C. Kirk, Sr., she was a graduate of Beebe High School, a retired teacher from Michigan Public Schools, a lifelong Baptist, and currently a member of Union Valley Baptist Church. Both she and Emitt were school teachers and upon retiring, they moved to the Heber Springs area where they made many friends. Hope was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Emitt Carter; her son, James Carrington Carter; four brothers, Herman, Arthur, Ralph and Charles Kirk; three sisters, Atrude Kirk, Ruby Wilburn, and Helen Milam; and sister-in-law Gertrude (J.C.) Hunt.
Survivors include her brother, Earl Kirk and his wife, Norma; sister, Zella Brooks; sisters-in-law, Fran (Gerald) Stacks, Imogene Smith and Lola Kirk Hickman; brother-in-law, Bill Carter; numerous special Kirk and Carter nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.
Visitation will begin 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012, with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe, with graveside service following at Cleburne County Memorial Gardens in Heber Springs.
Memorials may be made to Union Valley Baptist Church, Beebe, AR, Tumbling Shoals Baptist Church, Tumbling Shoals, AR, or your favorite charity.
