Ernestine Wilson

Ernestine Wilson, age 89, of Glenwood, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022.

She was born on July 24, 1933, in Mineral Springs, the daughter of Ernest Monroe Lindsey and Ailey Elizabeth Whisenhunt Lindsey.  On July 17, 1954, she was married to the true love of her life, Joe Don “Sonny Joe” Wilson, who preceded her in death on April 2, 1990. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Donny Joe Wilson and David Wilson; her parents; and her siblings, Mae Pearl Jackson, Paralee Arivett, Pauline Hubbert, Florine Richards, Lucille Lindsey, Charles Lindsey, Beatrice Lindsey and Bernice Tolleson.

In her younger years, Ernestine worked as a telephone operator and later owned and operated the Kids Stop Daycare, where she loved and cared for many children for over fifty years. She was an avid Razorback fan, enjoyed fishing and watching the deer in her yard. Her favorite hobby was going to the casino, where she enjoyed playing the slot machines and became fondly referred to as the “slot queen” because she won multiple jackpots over the years. Ernestine was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who loved and cherished her family. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Mike Wilson of Glenwood and Austin and Misty Wilson of Amity; her daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Randy McCrystal of Glenwood; her daughter-in-law, Colleen Cowart of Glenwood; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and one on the way; her sister, Josephine Griffith of Pearcy; her special friend, Lonetta Lock of Glenwood; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 21, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home in Glenwood with Bro. Bobby Lock officiating.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, Glenwood, 209 North Third Street, Glenwood, AR 71943.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Burnett, Tanner Wilson, Jordan Robinson, Bill Jackson, Chris Lindsey and Jimmy Jackson.

Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of Elite Hospice.
