Dr. Ernestine Green Reynolds died Sunday, October 18, 2020.  She was born in Joan on August 15, 1929, the daughter of Ernest Kar & Daisy Dale Bettis Green.  A graduate of Arkadelphia High School, she obtained a BSE from Henderson State Teachers College, an MSE from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, and a Doctorate in Education from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.  She took early retirement at age 56 after 38 years as a public-school teacher (beginning at the age of 18 years and one month): eight in Arkansas, one in Ferguson-Florrisant, Missouri, and 29 in University City, Missouri.  A member of St. Andrews Methodist Church, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Wallace A. Reynolds, her parents, sisters Geraldine Green and Betty Lou Green Duff, and an infant brother.

She is survived by one daughter, Carol Lynn Ross; grandchildren Joseph “Joey” (Kayla) Ross and Jeremy Ross of Arkadelphia and Stephanie (Chris) Walsh of Houston, Texas; sister and brother-in-law Glendine (George) Gentry of Lonoke and sister Linda McCaskill of Sparkman; great grandsons Turner and Garrett Ross and great granddaughters Caroline Walsh and Rosie Ross and many other relatives.

The funeral will be Saturday, October 24 at 2pm as a graveside service at the Bethlehem Cemetery in Joan.  The family will receive friends at the Joan Community building following the service.  Pall Bearers will be Michael Gentry, Kevin Keown, Kasey Keown, Hunter Keown, Willie Green, and Charles Leavitte.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethlehem Cemetery in care of Willie Green, 2522 HWY 51 N., Arkadelphia, AR 71923, or to a charity of choice.

Due to COVID-19, face coverings and social distancing will be required.
