Ernest Ray Tackett, age 77, of Plumerville, AR passed away at St. Vincent Infirmary Monday, July 18th. He was born in Glenwood, AR on July 15th, 1939, a son of the late Shock and Pauline Tackett.

He was a member of Portland Missionary Baptist Church in Plumerville. Ray was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to three granddaughters. He loved to hunt with his cousin Gary Tackett and friends at Deer Camp #7. He made friends wherever he went, striking up conversation with everyone and met no stranger.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elmer and Bessie Penney; brothers-in-law, Parker Lenamond, Merl Jones, and George Green.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Shirley Penney Tackett, sister, Ruby Lee Lenamond, sons, Alan Tackett and wife Karen of Tennessee, Chad Tackett and wife Sheena of Plumerville, granddaughters, Kess, Sydney, and Alexandria Tackett, brother-in-law, Ronnie Penney, sisters-in-law, Dottie Green, Mary Jo Jones and Betsy Penney.

Visitation is 5:00 PM til 7:00 PM Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the Bob Neal and Sons Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday July 21, 2016 at Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel in Arkadelphia. Interment will be Rest Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Arkadelphia.
