Eric Austin McEwen, 64, passed away in Little Rock on Sunday, May 28, 2006. He was born in Little Rock on August 19, 1941, the son of LeRoy and Edris McEwen. His parents, brothers, Eddie and Ferrell McEwen and sister, Rebecca Furcolow preceded him in death. Surviving Eric are his first wife, Mickey Cole McEwen; his loving wife, Carolyn (C.J.); brother, Larry (Debbie) McEwen of Raytown, Missouri; sister, Sandra Keeton of Russellville, Arkansas; children, Richard (Glennera) McEwen and Robert McEwen of Sherwood; Ron (Tonya) McEwen of Gravel Ridge; Chad McEwen of North Little Rock; Sheril Shumaker of Sherwood; Becca Murphy of Enola, Arkansas and Gena McEwen of San Diego, California; grandsons, Brandon and Jeffrey McEwen, Zachary Shumaker, Keith Dye, Alan Strong; granddaughters, Labon Fonssagrives and Erica Gracie "Bug" McEwen; and Cop-Cop.
Eric was a man with dreams, wants and desires like all others, but most of all, he was a doer. Son, baseball player, delivery boy at Hall's Drug, friend, service station owner, husband, father, Colonial Bakery delivery man, pilot, Heims Meat Packing Company, race car driver, Arkansas State Police, truck driver...but his biggest dream was to own his own trucking company and own and work with antique cars. He was able to attain these goals, first, through McEwen Trucking, which later became Sugarland Transport - Nationwide, hauling everything from lettuce to train engines. His beloved antique cars were housed under the name of E-Mac. His love and kindness, along with his temperament, made him "Our Eric". My heart to yours, Carolyn.
