Emma Yeldell

Emma Katherine "Kay" Yeldell, age 94, of Maumelle, Arkansas, died March 18. She was born March 3, 1921 in Owensboro, (Daviess County) Kentucky. She was the daughter of Georgia Bell and Edward Jefferson Boswell, and widow of Dr. Walter Lee Yeldell. Kay studied at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and was an active partner in ministry with her husband at First Baptist Church, Clarksville, First Baptist Church, West Memphis, Second Baptist Church, Hot Springs, and North Greenwood Baptist Church in Greenwood, Mississippi. She taught young adult and senior adult Bible study, and was leader of senior adult ministries, Women's Missionary Union, Girls Auxiliary, and Baptist Young Women. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and an avid family genealogist. She loved her family, her friends, and her home and garden. She read, studied and learned all her life.

Survivors include her children, the Rev. Carolyn Yeldell Staley (Jerry) of Little Rock, Lynda Yeldell and Dr. Deborah Yeldell McAfee (Jerry) of Maumelle, and Walter Yeldell, Jr. of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, grandchildren Sarah Staley Shenk (Charles), Mary Staley Chappelow (Doug), William Staley (Misti), Nikki Ezell, Elizabeth Yeldell Jweid (Derek), Erin Yeldell Sousa (Ben), Whitney Yeldell, and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Mrs. Harlan (Helen) Snider of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, cousin Bill Griffin (Jean Ann) of Plano, Texas, and dear nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Arkansas, Pulaski Heights Baptist Church, or to a charity of the donor's choice. A private memorial service will be held with burial at Mt. Holly Cemetery.
