Emma Mayes
Emma Kresse Mayes, 90, of North Little Rock, was born September 28, 1919 to Herman and Emma Kresse and passed away Tuesday, December 08, 2009 at home surrounded by family. She graduated from Mount Saint Mary Academy in 1938 and retired from the Pulaski County Assessor's Office as the Supervisor of Business Personnel after 27 years of service. Emma was an active member of Saint Anne's Catholic Church for over 45 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Herman Kresse and Lawrence Kresse; three sisters, Theresa Kresse Brucker, Monica Kresse Climer and Leona Kresse Ritchie. Also preceding Emma in death was her loving friend, Victor Balios.
Emma is survived by three brothers, Eugene (Dorris) Kresse of North Little Rock, Joseph (Sally) Kresse of Maxwell, IA, and Andrew (Arletta) Kresse of Conway; two sons, James Mayes and Dennis (Joannie) Mayes; daughter, Emily Mayes Davis; and daughter of the heart, Sharon Mayes; ten grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephew, and other relatives.
Her family wishes to express their profound gratitude to her faithful friends, Lorene Dumboski, Irene Dumboski and Ann Page and also to all those who prayed continuously for her throughout her illness.
In lieu of flowers, Emma requested donations to be made to one of the following organizations, St. Anne's Catholic Church, 6150 Remount Road, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72118, Helping Hand, 1601 Marshall Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72202, or Mount Saint Mary Academy, 3224 Kavanaugh Blvd., Little Rock, Arkansas 72205.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday with the Rosary following at 7:00 p.m at North Little Rock Funeral home, 1921 Main, 758-1170.
