Emma Jean Patterson Garner went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 29, 2022. She was born in Pine Bluff on November 27, 1930, to Jim and Annie Pearl (Rodgers) Patterson. On July 31, 1948, Emma was married to the love of her life, Jasper Lafayette (J. J.) Garner, Jr. in Carson City, Nevada, who preceded her in death on August 3, 2009. Also preceding her in death besides her parents is her brother, Roy Patterson, and sister, Maxine Darden.
She was a loving mother to her daughter, Martha Garner and husband, Woody May of Arkadelphia, and son, Jimmy and wife, LeighAnne Garner of Vicksburg, Mississippi; and a loving Nanna to her grandchildren, Shannon and Lee Ledbetter of Bryant, Craig May, Toby Garner and Lance and Andrea Garner all of Arkadelphia; Christopher and Jennifer Truitt of Sarah, Mississippi; and her great-grands, Austin Ledbetter of Fayetteville, Ethan Ledbetter of Bryant, Colton, Avery and Jaiden Garner of Arkadelphia, and Christyn and Catelynn Truitt of Sarah, Mississippi; three nieces, four nephews, and a host of cousins, and many friends.
Mrs. Garner was a member of Third Street Baptist Church where she was active in the Golden Agers program. She retired from Henderson State University.
Visitation will be 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM Monday, May 2nd at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 11:00 AM with Bro. Greg Latham officiating at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Third Street Baptist Church Building Fund.
