Emily D. Carmichael Ewing

Emily D. Carmichael Ewing departed this life on July 5, 2022. She was born March 1, 1933 in Keo, Arkansas to the late Garner S. Autry and the late Mary Etta Hayes Autry. Also preceded in death by three brothers, Garner Autry, Jr., Aubrey D. Autry and Lonnie D. Autry, two sisters, Juanita Ann Herron and Wynona Bell Gregory, one son, Kenneth Wayne Carmichael and one granddaughter, Angelica.

She is survived by one brother, Doyle (MaryBeth) Autry, four daughters, Paulette Carmichael, Trisha (Shawn) Dominguez, Phyllis (Gary) Danielson, Penny (Galon) Wallis, 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

She left behind a legacy of nieces and nephews that love her and she loved them dearly. Some she helped raise and treated them as her own. Sometimes that was a good thing, sometimes a not so good thing. LOL. She was a strong woman with a tough exterior, but with a soft yet guarded heart. She loved hard; however not always able to show you the depth of her love. She had a work ethic that is unmatched and she passed that on to every one of her daughters. She was quick witted and wasn't always gentle with that wit, but it was always interesting.

She lived the last 6 years at Lakewood Nursing Home, there were many people that were able to know her before and after the dementia symptoms took her away from us. Many loved her so deeply and treated her special; staff and residents alike. They became part of her family and at times were the only family she could touch for years due to covid.

She lived a long life with many blessings, although hard at times. She did not deserve these last 6 years with dementia, confusion, and misery that comes along with that horrendous disease. She will be severely missed and will leave a void in a lot of people's lives. Rest in Peace Mom.
