Elzie Marie Brantley Coney, 91, of Little Rock, widow of Beryl Gene Coney, whom she was married for 49 years, departed this world for Heaven Tuesday afternoon, December 16, 2014 surrounded by her family. Mrs. Coney was born July 19, 1923 in Humphrey, Arkansas, the daughter of Benjamin C. Brantley and Retha Mae Shelby Brantley. She retired from AT&T in 1992 after over thirty years of service and was also a LPN.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.
In addition to her parents and her husband; she was preceded in death by her sisters, Bertha Coleman, Katherine (Penny) Ponder and Iva Mae Burt and her brothers, Milburn Brantley, Joseph Brantley and Dewey Brantley. Devoted mother of Deborah C. Mayernick, of Benton, Karen C. Criner, of Little Rock and David W. Coney, of North Little Rock. Cherished grandmother of Elizabeth Corona and her husband, Benjamin, Olivia Carlile and her husband, Charlie, Brandon Mayernick and his wife, Olivia, Savannah Mayernick, Devan Coney and Dawson Coney. Her four great-grandchildren, Isabella, Scarlett, Elijah and Victoria.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, followed by reception at the church. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., North Little Rock. Entombment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
