Elwood ?Woody? Currence, 72, of Maumelle passed away Thursday, December 20, 2007. He was born in Broken Bow, Oklahoma to the late Earl and Cecil Currence. He proudly served in the Air Force from 1955-1959. Woody worked for The National Weather Service for 38 years and loved his job. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Maumelle and a volunteer for Hope Alliance. He found the most joy in life in his family whom he deeply cherished and loved to travel.
He is survived by his wife, of 31 years, Peggy Currence; son, Jerry Earl Currence and wife, Kelly, of Little Rock; two step-daughters, Pamela Swann and husband, Marc, of Maumelle and Paula Brown and husband, Gregory, of Richardson, Texas; step-son, Richard Fite, of Lake Dallas, Texas; brother, Jerry R. Currence; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Jimmy Dale Currence, and daughter-in-law, Norine Fite.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Maumelle or Hope Alliance, 14423 Smalling Road, Maumelle, Arkansas 72113.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday at First United Methodist Church of Maumelle. Services conducted by North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
