Elvin Leon Powell, 84, of Beebe, died on April 11, 2007 at McClellan VA Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born on September 13, 1922 in Mt. Vernon, Arkansas to Bessie and Aaron Powell.
Mr. Powell served in the Army during WWII and was stationed in Germany. He fought bravely in the Battle of the Bulge and was given an honorable discharge in 1944 at the end of the war. He retired from the North Little Rock School system in 1989 due to a hip injury, which prevented him from continuing in his position.
Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his mother and father, Bessie and Aaron Powell, a sister, Lavern Rogers, and a brother, Hansel Powell.
He is survived by five nephews, Roger Powell, Larry Powell, James Powell, David Powell, and Butch Taylor. Also surviving Mr. Powell are two nieces, Patsy Mosley and Glenda Taylor, along with many great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Powell was a kind and loving person, who always had a happy word to anyone he met. He was forever the optimist and found his greatest comfort in his friend, Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at North Little Rock Funeral Home on Saturday, April 14, 1007 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. in Naylor Cemetery in Faulkner County . Visitation service will be at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main, 758-1170, on Friday, April 13, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family will be at the home of Larry and Debbie Powell, 109 Lynn Harvey Road, Beebe, Arkansas.
