Elva Pay

Elva “Tooter” Ramey Pay, age 86, of North Little Rock, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 23, 2020.  She was born in Havana, Arkansas to Ned and Ila Ramey.

She was a long-term member of North Hills Baptist Church, Sherwood Arkansas.   Elva worked at Southern Farmers Association and retired after 42 years as their in-house corporate printer.   Elva was also a member of the Yell County Cattlemen’s Association.

She loved working on her family farm in Havana where she was born.   Tooter was a lifetime farmer raising cattle and growing soybeans, corn, hay and milo.   Ralph and Elva made their first crop in the Havana Bottoms in 1963.   She would spend long hours on her tractor and loved the smell of fresh tilled dirt.  She often said that her farm was “right next door to heaven.”

She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Ralph T. Pay; her parents; sister Willie Patton and brothers Carl, Harold and Floyd “Doc” Ramey.

She is survived by her sister, Anna Mary “Jo” Bryant; nieces and nephews, Owreta Turner, Carroll (Florene) Ramey, Frances Burrows, Radne Bryant, Tanya Ramey, Minnie (Tim) Mills; special friends, Sharon Cox and family who had a loving friendship for over forty years and Martha and Jeff Seeber who treasured Tooter like a mother; and other extended family and friends.

Memorials may be made to North Hills Baptist Church, 9618 Highway 107, Sherwood, Arkansas 72120.
