Elton Ballentine

Elton E. Ballentine, 65, of Little Rock, passed away May 23, 2010. He was born in North Little Rock on November 20, 1944 to Eunice Eugene Ballentine and Kattie Roberts Ballentine. He was a graduate of North Little Rock High School and Ouachita Baptist University. He enjoyed a life-long career in facilities management, and for ten years was Director of Physical Plant at Pulaski Technical College.
As a bi-vocational pastor, he served several small churches in central Arkansas. Most recently, he enjoyed teaching in the after school program at eStem Middle Public Charter School. He was a talented craftsman, spending hours in his woodshop building furniture. He was a member of Parkway Place Baptist Church and loved gospel music. Most of all, he treasured his faith, his family and being "PaPa" to his six grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Martha Bowen Ballentine; daughters, Dr. Michele Linch (Perry Jon) and Angela Johnson (Jeff), both of Little Rock; brothers, Robert Ballentine (Rosemary) of Cabot and Herbert Ballentine (Violet) of Mayflower; grandchildren, Jon-Austen Linch, Mary-Kaylin Linch, Emma Johnson, Ethan Johnson, Adam Johnson and Evan Johnson; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Betty Jo Carlley, Pauline Brown, Linda Moser and Mary Cruise.
Services will be Wednesday, May 26 at 1:00 p.m. at Parkway Place Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Allan Greer, followed by interment at Edgewood Memorial Park in North Little Rock. The family will greet friends beginning at noon until time of the service. Memorials may be made to The Imagine Campaign at Parkway Place Baptist Church.
