Else Dahinden, resident of Little Rock, Arkansas since 2014, slipped into the presence of her Lord and savior, Jesus on Thursday, January 30th at the age of 93. She was born as Else Marie Simon in Oakland, California as a fraternal twin with her brother Harry who predeceased her in 2005. Her mother Maria was born in Germany and her father Henry was a native of San Francisco. She was predeceased by her husband Ted in 2014 after 68 years of marriage.
She is survived by her son, Eric and daughter, Donna Schroeder (and husband Juergen) along with her grandchildren Brian (and wife Malory), Ryan (and wife Ashley) and five great grandchildren.
From the age of 12 she was a church pianist and organist, and in later years she enjoyed singing with her church choirs. Prior to her move to Little Rock, she and her husband resided in Hot Springs Village. Before moving to Arkansas, they were residents of California. They lived in the Bay area for about twenty years followed by another thirty years in Southern California where they called Pasadena home.
Else learned piano at an early age and before long she was the pianist in the Lutheran church that her family attended in Oakland. She continued to grow in her musical skills an she added the organ to her skill set. In Southern California the family attended Lake Avenue Congregational Church for several years then Else and Ted became active at Sierra Madre Congregational Church. Else led several women's Bible study groups developing life-long friendships with many who attended those studies.
Else was a devoted wife and mother. She touched many lives with her sweet compassion and listening ear. She will be greatly missed by those who have known her.
A funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday February 4th at Presbyterian Village Chapel, 510 N. Brookside Dr. in Little Rock, AR. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Christian Broadcasting Network, CBN Center, 977 Centerville Turnpike, Virginia Beach, VA 23463 or Reasons to believe, 818 South Oak Park Rd., Covina, CA 91724.
