Elmer Penney, age 93 of Arkadelphia died Sunday, April 16, 2006 at Twin Rivers Health & Rehab. He was born Jan 12, 1913 in Clark County, AR the son of the late Floyd L. and Josie Haltom Penney. He was a farmer, a WWII Army veteran and a charter member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He worked at the National Gypsum Plant for many years and was preceded in death by his first wife, Bessie McCallum Penney.
Survivors include his wife, Rea Marceil Penney; one son, Ronnie Penney of Arkadelphia; three daughters, Mary Jo Jones of Arkadelphia, Dottie Ann Green of Okolona, and Shirley May Tackett of Plumerville, AR; four step children, Darla Sears of Pocola, OK, Ken Miles of Arkadelphia, Jan Sears of Cordell, OK, and Rea Pounds of Austin, TX; one sister, Irene Stenquist of Rogue River, OR; nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, thirteen step grandchildren and nineteen step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:30 Wednesday, April 19, 2006 in Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel with Rev. Greg Kirksey officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
