Elizabeth Strobel

Elizabeth "Beth" Louise Strobel, (née Fine), died at Baptist Hospital surrounded by her family on December 29, 2015 in Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 69 after suffering a severe stroke on Christmas Eve.

Beth is survived by her husband, Ron of Little Rock; son, Steve (wife, Patty); daughters, Sharon (husband, Patrick Barron) and Sandra Strobel (partner, Jessie); grandchildren, Sabrina, Sarah, Grayston and Sean, all of Little Rock; and siblings, Jim Fine of Bozier City, Louisiana, Jane Lundquist of Trenton, New Jersey and Mary Hightower of Rudy, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by parents, Rex and Nettie Fine, her sister, Martha Marks, and her brother, Richard Fine.

Beth was born on September 14, 1946 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Rex and Nettie Fine. She graduated high school at St. Ann's Academy in Van Buren, Arkansas in 1964, entered a convent before being asked to leave for whistling while on a vow of silence, and ultimately completed Nursing School at St. Edward's in Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1968. She married Ronald James Strobel in 1968 after meeting him on a blind date, her forever-guy, and the man that would benefit from her constant love and attention.

After moving to Little Rock, Beth began her 46 year career in nursing which included the last 14 years at Arkansas Children's Hospital where she was scheduled to retire soon. A real nurse's nurse, she was able to navigate the often difficult waters that run deep through hospitals by always having a fair but firm way of talking to co-workers, families and patients. This same ability made neighbors friends and often, friends family. She and Ron raised their children between Little Rock and Subiaco, Arkansas while engendering a strong foundation based on their Christian faith, the importance of family, and a strong work ethic. She was an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church.

Her life will be remembered by all that knew her as a life well-lived. She will be missed greatly - her ever-present smile, her kind manner and the love she had for her family and friends, a binding force for every one she knew.

All are welcome to celebrate Beth's life as she begins catching up with those who have gone ahead of her. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 3 from 2-4 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, with a Rosary to follow at 4 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, January 4 at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital, Attention: Katherine Friend, 1 Children's Way, Slot 661, Little Rock, AR 72202.
