Elinor Clark

Elinor Blakemore Clark, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 22, 2015. She was born 100 years ago, July 21, 1914 in Parkdale, Arkansas, the daughter of William Seneca Blakemore and Harriet Clements Blakemore. She was reared in Crossett, Arkansas and lived her adult life in Little Rock, where she raised her family. She and her husband, Delbert, founded the Special Game Company, a family business making games for bridal showers, baby showers, and children's parties. She created the games. After 30 years they sold the business and retired.

She was a loving wife and mother who cared deeply for her family. A lifelong Christian, she was a long-time member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Tele-A-Bible class. In earlier years she was a member of the Tyler Street Baptist Church and Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. She was involved in her church Women's Missionary Union, and she taught young women's Sunday School classes throughout her active adult church life.

She was active in her children's schooling and in the 1950's served one year as the PTA president at Oakhurst Elementary School.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Delbert, who died in 1998, her parents; her older sisters Kathryn Blakemore Gladden, Grace Blakemore Mathis, and Hallie Blakemore; older brother Bill Blakemore, and younger sister, Anna Mary Blakemore. She is survived by her sister, Virginia Blakemore of Little Rock, and her children: Dr. Stephen Clark, of Little Rock, Ron Clark and his wife, Nancy of Frisco, Texas; and Dr. Jeanne Ellen Clark, of Salem, Oregon. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Andrew Clark and his wife Angela, and their child, Drew, of Texarkana, Texas; Matt Clark and his wife, Jamie, and their children, Lauren and Owen, of Benton; and Jeff Clark and his wife Jen, and their children, Zachary, Ellie Anna, Adalyn, and Wesley of Wildwood, Missouri.

She was highly committed to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and supported a number of mission organizations toward this end. Rather than flowers, memorials would appropriately be made to any of several missions that she supported: Wycliffe Bible Translators, Gospel for Asia, Samaritan's Purse, Back to the Bible, Jews for Jesus, The Jesus Film Project, The Navigators, Africa Inland Mission, Prison Fellowship, and the International Mission Board's Lottie Moon Christmas offering.

Funeral service to be held Tuesday, January 27 at 2:00 P.M. at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street, North Little Rock. Pastor John Sammons will officiate.
