Eleanor Steward
Eleanor Gates Steward, age 98, of Little Rock, died January 22, 2016, at her residence. She was born on November 19, 1917, in Monticello, Arkansas, and was the daughter of the late Dr. Stanley Matthews Gates and Sara Crow Gates.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Cleveland Steward, her son, Charles David Steward, brothers, Stanley Matthews Gates, Jr. and John David Gates, and sister, Sara Gates Lytle.
Survivors include her sons, Stanley William Steward and John Nelson Steward (Babs), and grandchildren, Lindsay Matthews Steward, Stephen Charles Steward, and David Gates Steward. Mrs. Steward was a Presbyterian, and, in honor of her request, funeral services were private, under the direction of Huson Funeral Home of Little Rock.
