It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Elaine Moore, 79, on December 22, 2024. A beloved wife, momma, nana, friend and devout follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She peacefully exited this life and joyfully entered the pearly gates.
Born on January 23, 1945, in Malvern, Arkansas, Elaine dedicated her life to nurturing others with grace, love, and boundless care. From an early age, she was a servant of God and lived a life of faith. Two principles that shaped her extraordinary journey through this life.
A cornerstone of her life was her tireless work for the church. She joyfully sang in the choir. She shared her faith with the youngest in her community as a devoted Sunday school teacher, guiding children of all ages with warmth and wisdom.
In her role as cook at Springlake Baptist Assembly, she fed not just the bodies but the souls of countless children and counselors with meals infused with care and kindness. Her work extended to First Step, Inc., where she brought joy, compassion, and support to students who were uplifted by her presence.
Her generosity of spirit was evident in her dedication to Lay Renewal Weekend Retreats, which she helped organize and witnessed to the children ensuring they were received into the Kingdom of Heaven through salvation. She ventured beyond her community on missions spreading love and faith far and wide with her gentle but firm belief in the power of serving the Lord.
Her family and friends remember her as a source of unconditional love and strength, always ready with a kind word, a warm hug, a vibrant smile, or a big batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies AFTER a hearty meal. She leaves behind a legacy of faith in action, humility, and a life devoted to lifting others.
Elaine is survived by Jerry Moore, her husband of 61 years, daughter, Rebecca Chism, grandson, Morgan Chism, brother Gary Grant (Sherry), and sister, Twilla Thomason. Because she was Elaine, she also has bonus children, a daughter, Desiree Arango, bonus grandchildren, Elijah Skeya and Abigail Skeya, to name a few.
She is predeceased by her son, Timothy Brian Moore; her parents, Hiram Grant and Audra Grant; brother, Basil Grant; and her aunt, Della Caple.
A visitation to celebrate Elaine’s life will be held on Thursday, December 26, from 5-7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Smith Family Funeral Home, with Rusty Hunter officiating at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow services at Crestview Cemetery.
Whichever name you chose to call her, Sugar Babe, Momma, Nana, Miss Elaine, Nana' Lane, she was a beacon of light, kindness, and faith in this world. Though she will be dearly missed, her impact will continue to shine in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Pallbearers will be: Morgan Chism, Lloyd Robertson, Bill Lee, Dennis Overton, Eric McDaniel, and Pete Eifert.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Dick Finley, Lance Hudnell, Eldridge Prince, Leon Burris, and Andy Miller.
