"E.L." Elmer Lee Taylor

     Elmer Lee Taylor “E.L. Taylor” , age 85 of Conway, Arkansas, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, October 16, 2024. He was born March 17, 1939, in Altheimer, Arkansas, to the late Creed and Violet Compton Taylor. E.L. was preceded in death by his parents, brother S.C. Taylor, stepson Jerald Chance, and great-grandson William Montgomery.

      E.L. was a Navy Veteran serving from 1958-1962 and discharged as Seaman E-3. He retired from the Industrial Pre-fabricated Concrete products industry and was as good a weekend carpenter that could be found. 

      He is survived by his wife of 45 years, eleven months, and one day, Catherine Taylor, by two brothers, Gary Taylor (Donna) and Richard Taylor, by stepdaughter Mary Ives (Mark), by three stepsons John Waddle (Glenda), Robert Chance, and Milton Chance, Junior. He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, Charles, Coraline, Preasley-Lynn, and Hartlen-Ray. E.L. wanted these great-great-grandchildren here every day. They made him feel better.  Survivors also include many nieces, nephews and extended family that loved him and will miss him.

      Pallbearers will be Bill Dickson, Mike Denton, Trinity Waddle, Robert Chance, Calvin Gann, Zack Ives, and Marvin Waddle.

      Funeral services will be Thursday, October 24th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Smith Family Funeral Home-Conway, 1751 Dave Ward Dr., officiated by Bubba Dickson and Joseph Taylor. Visitation will start at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Cypress Valley Cemetery near Vilonia.
