In Loving Memory of Egbert Alphonso Nicholson
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Egbert Alphonso Nicholson, who departed this life on March 25, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on November 4, 1944, in Spanish Town, Jamaica, Egbert carried the warmth, resilience, and vibrant spirit of his homeland wherever he went, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met.
A man of adventure and charm, Egbert’s love for travel led him to work on a cruise ship, where he explored the world and made lifelong connections. Later, as a cab driver, he continued to meet people from all walks of life, always sharing a story, a joke, or a wise word along the way.
He had a deep appreciation for horses, music, and fashion—always a snappy dresser, always moving to the rhythm of life with effortless style. His presence was magnetic, his laughter infectious, and his love for good company undeniable.
Egbert was reunited in spirit with his beloved partner, Gwendolyn Yeargin, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. Their bond was one of devotion, laughter, and an unspoken understanding that lasted a lifetime. Though she passed before him, her presence remained in his heart, and now they are together once more.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sisters, Lorna Jones and Velma Henry; his children, Michael Nicholson (Kim), Sandra Nicholson, Andreen Wallace, Crystal Nicholson Dixon, and Dave Nicholson; his stepchildren, Stephanie Copeland (Michael) and Mia Yeargin; and his beloved grandchildren, Calvin, Cortney, Michael, Dave Jr., Erykah, Marc, Mekael, Hope, and Noah. He was preceded in death by his daughter Charmaine, as well as his parents, Inez Blake and Claudius Nicholson.
To honor his life and legacy, the family will gather for a private viewing on March 27, 2025, embracing cherished memories and celebrating the man who brought so much light, wisdom, and love into their lives.
Egbert Alphonso Nicholson will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His spirit will live on in the stories he told, the music he loved, and the many lives he touched.
