Edwin "Ed" Lowe Srygley, 77, passed away April 26 at his home in Benton. Grace Anne, his wife of 56 years, survives him. Ed is survived by two children, Susan Srygley of Benton and Todd (Margaret) Srygley of Little Rock and two grandchildren, Benjamin (Jennifer) Martin and R. Katherine Martin. Ed is also survived by two brothers, Fletcher "Buddy" Srygley of Bryant and Jim (Francine) Srygley of New Jersey; two sisters, Mina (Gene) Godden of Florida and Ann Stitt of Arizona; and brother-in-law, Paul Peacock of Winchester. His parents, Wilhelmina and Osceola Srygley, a sister, Lucille Peacock, and a beloved cousin, Vieva Hackney Brown, predeceased him.
Ed was born on October 2, 1930 in Little Rock. He graduated from Little Rock High School and attended Memphis State University. At the height of his career, he was Manager of Information Systems for Kellwood Company in St. Louis, Missouri.
To say that Ed was a people person is an understatement. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather, going to great lengths to bring happiness to his family. He loved celebrating life with family and friends, especially with a meal. One of Ed's favorite sayings was "We need to celebrate!" He had a knack for making any meal a celebration. He used any excuse to overindulge others, from tipping in restaurants to Christmas at home. Ed was also a talented, self-taught musician who, along with his son, enjoyed playing hymns in local nursing homes. No one had to wonder where Ed stood on issues, as he enjoyed speaking his mind and debating topics.
Ed attended Little Rock's First Baptist Church and St. Paul United Methodist Church, also in Little Rock. Rev. John Fleming will officiate at a family memorial service that will be held at a later date.
A special thanks goes to Arkansas Hospice for their care. Memorials may be sent to the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance, 801 Roeder Road, Suite 750, Silver Springs, MD 20910.
