Edwin F. Arivett

Edwin F. Arivett, age 84, of Kirby, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015. He was born on April 15, 1930 at Langley, the son of the late Fred Samuel Arivett and Myrtle Dunson Arivett. On October 25, 1953, he was married to Betty Zane Orrick. He was a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. He retired after 31 years with Kirby Public Schools. He served in many positions in the school system including elementary principal, teacher, basketball coach and bus driver. He worked the clock at the basketball games for many years. He was also employed with the Corp of Engineers from 1975 to 1995. He is survived by his wife, Betty Zane Arivett; two children, Debi Arivett and Scott Arivett, all of Kirby; his sister, Wanda "Dean" Logan of Glenwood; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 13, 2015, in the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Bobby Golden and Bro. Jack Herring officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
