Edward Anthony Kubitz was born December 26, 1934, to Edward Henry and Esther Kubitz in Chicago, Illinois.
He passed away September 23, 2024, at Hickory Heights Nursing Home at the age of 89. Ed was a family man with a big heart. He and his wife enjoyed sailing on their boat on Lake Maumelle. He was very talented with his hands. He built kit cars from scratch, wood furniture, and loved building radio-controlled airplanes. He loved his family and his many dogs through the years-especially his chihuahua Tootsie.
Ed attended Denver University and College in Chicago. He served four years in the US Navy and was a radar electrician. He even studied electronics while serving. Ed joined IBM shortly after Genyth and Ed moved to Memphis, Tennessee. This is where they welcomed their two children, Genyth “Sister” Marie Kubitz Thomas and Edward “Bubba” Lee Kubitz. They moved to Sherwood, AR for ten or so years until they found their ever after home in Ferndale, AR.
Along with his wife of 66 years Genyth Ann Kubitz, he is also survived by his children, Genyth Kubitz Thomas and Edward Kubitz. Their daughter married Mike Thomas and they had a son-Michael Benjamin Thomas. Their son married Donna Renee Ashcraft Kubitz and they had a daughter Kaylee Dawn Kubitz, who is having a daughter the first week of November. Michael Benjamin has twins Bennett and Alyson Rose Thomas, 11years old. He is married to Brittany and she has two children, Bailey and Aiden. They all reside in Tucson, Arizona. He is also survived by his sister Joyce McCann and her husband Steve. His sister Arline Kubitz and brother Preston H. Kubitz preceded him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital https://www.stjude.org or a church of your choice. Graveside service with military honors will be held 10:00AM Monday, September 30, 2024 at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland, North Little Rock, Arkansas.
